Nautilus Marlborough Pinot Noir 2007
"In 2000, Nautilus built a winery devoted to pinot noir - that's all it does. Stunning wine. One of those wines that seem confident about themselves. It tastes of raspberries and cherries, bitter herbs ands cedarwood, and carries layers of grainy, spicy, stalky tannin. The more of it you taste, the more powerful and lengthier it seems. Value 5 STARS l Score 94 l Drink 2009-2016."
Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh, The BIG Red Wine Book 2009/10 (Aus), 1 June 2009
"Nautilus is serious about producing top Marlborough Pinot Noir, so serious that it has built a separate winery devoted entirely to this capricious grape variety. Elegant wine with classy fruit flavours of red and black cherry plus subtle oak and other savoury influences. The flavours are long and linear and are amplified on the finish. The wine has a harmony and energy that is both rare and appealing."

98 points - 5 star value
- "We've been crowing about the wonderful world Pinot Noir wines grown in Martinborough and Central Otago, with cooler reviews given to Pinot's grown elsewhere in New Zealand. The 2007 Nautilus Pinot Noir turns the tables - this wine hallmarks of great Pinot Noir. The wine was cold soaked for 7 days prior to commencing a warm ferment. 5 clones were sourced from 6 vineyard sites. Very deep crimson mauve colour with mauve purple hue. The nose is impressive, with spicy liquorice, black cherry and strawberry jam aromas showing strong varietal character. The palate is quite juicy and is supported by velvet smooth tannins - and what's more, there is a very impressive power wave. Flavours of super ripe black cherries, black peper and spice over a layer of strawberry jam. Very long aftertaste with the power wave persisting. Exceptional value."
