Marlborough Chardonnay 2011

Chardonnay may just be Marlborough’s most underrated wine style. Wine Enthusiast Editor Joe Czerwinski believes it is New Zealand’s best white wine, and calls New Zealand the “Burgundy of the South Pacific”. It is certainly a wine that we love to make and love to drink. It is only available in very small quantities and always surprises and delights people who taste it with us.
The Nautilus Chardonnay is 100% handpicked, whole bunch pressed and wild fermented. Malolactic fermentation is kept low to preserve the balance and purity of the fruit flavours.
The wine is rich and complex whilst still retaining freshness, with citrus, apricot and mineral flavours and an enchantingly long pure finish.
Pair with Butternut pumpkin gnocchi with fresh goat’s ricotta, confit dates, wild sorrel & almonds cooked in nut brown butter or …

Nautilus Marlborough Chardonnay 2011

“Silken textured wine with a seductive peaches and cream appeal. Layered flavours of brioche, white peach, pear and hazelnut. Complete chardonnay that is an absolute pleasure to taste. Impressive intensity delivered with great subtlety. Winemaker Clive Jones is a master of the light touch.” Bob Campbell, MW. Kia Ora magazine, June 2013 (Download review.)

5 stars - "The 2011 vintage is a classic cool-climate style, with lovely poise and potential. Hand-harvested, barrel-fermented and lees-stirred, it is very elegant and complex, with rich citrus-fruit and stone-fruit flavours, a subtle seasoning of oak (22% new), slightly biscuity and buttery notes, and a tight, long finish. Already offering a lot of pleasure, it should be at its best mid-2013+." Michael Cooper Buyer's Guide to New Zealand Wines 2013, 13 November 2012
