Marlborough Chardonnay 2006

The 2006 Nautilus Chardonnay is pale straw in colour with an aroma of melon and grapefruit supported by toasty oak. On the palate citrus flavours are integrated with cashew nut, biscuit and mealy characters derived from indigenous fermentation and less stirring. This wine has a tight mineral structure in its youth and develops a creamy texture as it matures.

Nautilus Estate Marlborough Chardonnay 2006

3 stars - "This is a very smooth number. The nose is wonderfully knitted with nutty oak and fleshy, vibrant fruit. In the mouth it is also fully flavoured and similarly generous, with persistent citrus notes and leesy undertones. Now-2011." Decanter (UK), April 2009

"One the nose: delightful apricot, buttery toast and cashew aromas complete the package - a chardonnnay with "all the toys". Given a shake-up, this wine delivers a tingle to the nose and the citrus notes become more lifted; we also noticed some gentle floral and oak aromas.  In the mouth: this wine is silky smooth with a fleshy, juicy sensation. Rich, ripe grapefruit and caramel flavour's coat the palate while some tingly acid provides essential balance. The finish is a pleasing blend of ripe apple and lemon served up witha distinct creminess while the lingering aftertaste is pure toffee apple. Last words: a lip smacking and more-ish wine which represents excellent value for money at $30. Nautilus has become one of those consistently good producers vintage to vintage; it is a label that will not disappoint." Deborah Walton & Peter Morice, Herald (NZ), 28 October 2008
